1 X 3 MIN ADVOCACY FILM

Justice for victims of sexual exploitation and abuse by UN personnel can be slow, and accountability is not always guaranteed. Drawing on real victims’ experiences, I created a thoughtful and sensitive script that highlights their rights and their resilience in rebuilding their lives. The resulting film empowers staff and implementing partners with a deeper understanding of victims’ rights.

This project began with a challenge. In order to protect victims, how could we tell the stories of victims, without showing their face, or hearing their voice? The solution settled on using actors, filmed in a blackout studio to voice the words of victims. Critical to success, was the need to find a balance between conveying serious issues of harm, whilst representing victims as being empowered and in control of how their experience should be dealt with. This was helped by short, impactful statements and supporting text cards.

“Tim was collaborative, showed creativity throughout, and produced an exceptional product.
