Positive Negatives create compelling animations, comics and podcasts about pressing social, humanitarian and environmental issues. I made a short promo for them, that used the story of Hasko, a refugee from Syria, to show the detailed and meticulous storytelling process PositiveNegatives follows to bring real stories to life through animation.
As a huge fan of Positive Negatives work, it was an exciting prospect to make a short promotional video to show how their stories are created, which start with real testimonials gathered in the field. I used a slider to give shots movement and interest, as well as communicate the creative flow of their process.
To convey the hand-crafted nature of the animation, drawn from sketches, I used a macro lens that brought textural details to the fore.
“Tim is a pleasure to work with. He has a great eye for cinematic shots and a keen sense of storytelling.
